Research in the field of classical mathematics is being conducted on the basis of the Institute of mathematics (SB RAS) in the following areas:
- algebra, number theory and mathematical logic;
- geometry and topology;
- mathematical analysis, differential equations and mathematical physics;
- probability theory and mathematical statistics;
- computational mathematics;
- mathematical modeling and methods of applied mathematics;
- theoretical physics of elementary particles and atomic nucleus.
